Periods: Cramping & Sex

Seeing as for one week of the month I, as well as the majority of the female population go through their period, I’ve decided that this is the subject I would talk about for Monday. Cause nothing is more fun then starting off Monday morning with Aunt Flow. Lordy save me now.

per

Cramps

Most people know the basics:

  • Use a heating pad on lower abdomen
  • Take ibuprofen or another over the counter pain medication
  • Massaging abdomen lightly
  • If cramps are typically unmanageable, seeing your doctor and going on birth control may help.

Exercise:

Some people love it and other people know that there is no way in hell they are getting out of bed or doing any movement besides pouring a tea. Exercise is said to help cramping, especially when done regularly, or prior to start of period. Even light stretching can make things feel more relaxed.

Sexercise anyone?:

If you’re not too afraid to have sexual intercourse during your period this may help alleviate the pain. If you want to avoid the mess, you can use a sea sponge (You can find them online if not in your drug store). I recommend these as a single use item. If you don’t want to heed that advise, you can reuse some of them by cleaning and then boiling. They only last about 30 minutes.

Other things to look into in regards to periods:

  • Use of essential oils for pain: Marjoram, Clary Sage, Lavender, Geranium, Chamomile, Eucalyptus, Rose, Ylang-Ylang, Pure Turmeric, Yarrow, Clove, Cinnamon, Peppermint, Motherwort, Ginger
  • Teas and Special Teas, Such as Mighty Aphrodite from David’s Tea.
  • Meditation: Breathing through the pain, accepting it, and not wishing it away can make pain easier to deal with. (Oh no, Whimsy’s Yogi side is showing!)

Sliquid Organics stimulating O gel

image

Basics:

  • Organic
  • Vegan
  • Paraben and Glycerin free
  • Clitoral and G-spot stim cream
  • Sugar free

One of my favourite lube brands is Sliquid. They really care about the consumer and use ingredients that are body friendly. This is why I chose Sliquid over all the other stimulating gels. I spend quite some time online looking at reviews of other stimulating products and what I found was lacking. Sliquid was one of the only products that had positive reviews on it.

My first try:

On the first time using it I didn’t like it. I am not sensitive and I didn’t notice much sensation from it at all. In this use I used 2 vibrating toys and had no “control” to compare it to.

Second chance:

When I received my first ever non vibrating dong, I decided to give Sliquid another shot. This time without vibration. I used my toy alone as a “control” so I could feel the difference between with and without and I noticed that I could definitely notice the peppermint tingle this time, Both clitorally and g-spot.

So, it is possible the vibration just numbed me out so much in the first attempt that I didn’t manage to feel the difference. Also, not being sensitive is another reason.

I’ve read and heard many reviews of other stimulating creams and getting overstimulated (Or as some describe, having a burning sensation) seems to be a relatively common problem. If this has happened to you then Sliquid would be a great solution. It uses peppermint to produce it’s tingling effect and the amount of stimulation you feel wont be overwhelming.

What I learned from use:

  • Light – Med stimulation (Cooling, Tingling)
  • Not sticky!
  • Smells awesome

If you decide to try any gel:

  • Use only tear-drop amount to start and add more as necessary. You can always put more on but getting it off isn’t as easy
  • Make sure if your using silicone toys you use a water based stimulating gel (Hello Sliquid!)
  • Check out the ingredients, if it has glycerin or sugar it will be sticky, l’arginine is a blood vessel dilator that isn’t good if you have had any heart problems.
  • As for ingredients, Sliquid is totally safe.

Summary:

This gel provides a light-med stimulation. It would be best suited for people with sensitive parts who are hoping to spice things up or get to know themselves better. If you have ever found a cream or gel overstimulating this one is a safe bet. Start off with a tear drop amount and add more as needed. Body safe, all natural, organic ingredients, won’t irritate skin.

Toy Review: Aria Lotus Flutter

I received this toy from Blush Novelties for free in exchange for an honest review.

Basics:

  • Pure silicone
  • Hard plastic base
  • Battery Operated
  • 5 year Global warranty
  • Dual vibration (Clitoral and G-spot)
  • Waterproof

Specs:

  • Length: 7.25 inches
  • Insertable Length: 4.25 inches
  • Width: 1.79 inches
  • Product Weight (without package): 5.4 ounces

image

Pros:

  • Body Safe Silicone
  • 5 year global warranty
  • Lotus shaped clitoral stimulator provides wide area of sensation
  • Internal and External Vibration
  • Fun colours

Neutral:

  • Average vibration.
  • Battery Operated (I prefer rechargeable but this toy is great when my others need to be charged)

Cons:

  • Base of box can slide out from bottom
  • Buzzy vibration instead of deep
  • Indiscreet Shipping Box: Brown cardboard box with BLUSH NOVELTYS written on the side.

Vibration intensity: 3/5

This toy was also available previously in different colours under Blush Novelties OM line.

When the Aria Lotus Flutter arrived I didn’t think I would like it, but it turned out to provide amazing clitoral sensation and have quite a pleasant shape and sensation. The length was great for G-spot stimulation. The shape also provided stimulation from clitorous to labia to entrance to G-spot.

I am a magic wand type of girl and someone who loves intense vibration making this toy not right for me. I’d prefer a stronger vibration, this toy provides a light to medium-strong vibration. If I don’t expect to orgasm I will use this toy and just enjoy what it has to offer, but it isn’t my go-to.

Toy shape 4.5/5

The best qualities of this toy are its material and shape. The downside of it are its moderate vibration (not low speed, but not enough for someone who likes intensity). This toy is a winner for anyone who is new to rabbit vibes, doesn’t require strong vibration, and prefers the ability to put new batteries in their toy and go.

This toy wasn’t the one for me, but is still a nice beginner toy. If I didn’t rely on the intense vibration of rabbits, this toy might’ve done it for me.

For people like me who need strong vibration and a rechargable option, I suggest the Vilain Cecile or for a non branch vibe the Vilain Audre.

Overall Rating: 3.5/5

Use a water-based lube, grab some AAA batteries, and toy cleaner and your ready to enjoy.

Until next time,

Toy Review: LOE Kegal Ball Set

image

This is the set I chose to be my first ever Kegal set. The benefits of Kegal exercisers are numberous and I wanted to experience it.

As kegal balls regained popularity with 50 shades, I would like to say, either Anastasia had started off with a sex to tighten her kegal muscles or she somehow had amazingly strong kegal muscles to being with. The way its portrayed in 50 shades isn’t the way most women can use them in the beginning.

A beginner of Kegal balls should first use:

  • Larger slightly weighted balls – The size makes it easier to hold onto, while the weight makes it an exercise to keep the balls in.
  • The balls shouldn’t be too large
  • Never start with small heavy metal balls

Benefits of Kegal exercises:

  • Strengthen pelvic floor muscles (no more accidentally urination)
  • Tighten vagina
  • Increases ability to have strong orgasms
  • Get to know body better
  • The natural vibration of Kegal balls can provide pleasure

About LOE:

Pros:

  • Balls and holder are both made out of non porous body safe silicone
  • The weight is perfect for beginners
  • Slowly work towards use of smaller Kegal balls
  • Two different weight and size options

Cons:

  • I found the larger balls to be too large for me, they tried to fall out because of lack of room for them.
  • Drastic size difference between bigger and smaller kegal balls

I don’t regret getting this set as my first ever set, but if I were to but another set I would probably buy the LELO kegal set, or Geisha Balls.

Toy Review: Dos Sexy

I bought this on a whim. Since I like stimulation on both sides of my clitorous I decided to give this versatile toy a shot.

The features of this toy are:

  • Two bullets with independant controls on each.
  • Removable silicone sleeve on bullets connecting them (9″tether)
  • First set of batteries come with it

Pros:

  • Good for any experience level. Use simply for beginners or get as creative as you like as a pro.
  • Uses batteries so no need to wait to recharge.
  • Silicone sleeve is non porous, and bullets are made out of hard plastic

Cons:

  • Bullets batteries notoriously die after an hour of use, uses watch batteries which are a pain in the butt to put in.
  • Bullets are better on there own for clitoral stimulation.
  • Clitoral only (I wouldnt trust the tether for anal use, nor is the product waterproof

Vibration level: 3/5

Bullets have multiple settings (3 speeds, 7 pulsation and escalations)

Overall rating: 2/5

Due to the short life time of batteries, the nature of the toy not to be waterproof, the fact the silicone tether proves pointless for single person use, I give this toy a 2 out of 5. It’s 2 bullets, what more could I really expect.

My Dream Toys

imageI think everyone who has ever researched the different adult toys available has a list of dream toys, and I know that anyone who has been around me long enough knows that I have atleast 3 that I want but don’t own. So for anyone who wants to fall in love with some toys. I’ve composed a list of my top 5 dream toys, along with the pros and cons that I am aware of.

LELO Ina Wave

image

This is the long time favourite. It is a dual motor internal and clitoral stimulator. Not only this, but as the name suggests, it waves, the longer internal part will press against the G-spot and then release. Available at LELO.com

Pros:

  • Vibration both internally and on the clit
  • Natural movement (That doesn’t quit when pressure is applied to prevent it from doing so)
  • Rechargeable
  • Made from silicone
  • 1 year warranty from LELO
  • Waterproof

Cons:

  • Can take a while to charge (but you can use it while its charging)

Jimmy Jane: Form 2

This is a clitoral stimulation toy by Jimmy Jane. It features 2 motors to use on each side of the clitorous. It has 5 vibration intensitys and 4 settings. Each setting on it provides the user an experience similar to the way oral sex stimulates the clit. Unlike many toys that pulse and leave you missing the vibration, this toy just moves it to a new place on your clit.

Pros:

  • Waterproof
  • Three year limited warranty
  • Dual motors
  • Made from Silicone
  • Rechargeable

Cons:

  • External use only, not intended for internal use

MyStim Electric Eric:

image

I play a game at work with couples called what setting of E-Stim can you hold on till. People have a perception of e-stim that it is extreme and painful. Reality is, or atleast when held with hands, it starts of as a tingly feeling. It is not nearly as scary as it seems. I will be checking this toy out soon, I am so excited for this as it is my 3rd toy on my list.

Pros:

  • Good starter estim toy, first settings are more reasonable for beginners
  • Silicone coated electro stim pads
  • Option of vibration
  • Kegal exerciser
  • Rechargeable
  • 2 year warranty

Cons:

  • Lower vibration than some vibration based toys

FUN Bi Stronic:

Lets just call the Bi Stronic “Mr. Trudeau”, skip dinner and get to the action. This toy is basically hands free. Thrusts like natural moments and has clitoral vibration, leaving you free to fantasize, read, sext, or whatever else you want to do.

Sorry Mr. Trudeau, gotta keep the economy going.

Pros:

  • Does everything for you
  • Silicone
  • 2 year warranty
  • Rechargeable
  • Clitoral vibration
  • Natural Thrusting (I have no clue how they do it)

Cons:

  • High Price

WeVibe Tango:

This Canadian company shares my area code, and if thats not enough to warm my heart, the WeVibe Tango has the strongest vibrations of any toy I have ever seen, not including the magic wand, which seems equivalent, but in a less hummy way. This toy also has an optional “Pleasure mate” kit that you can buy to enhance the options of the bullet. This kit comes with “glow” a silicone G-spot stimulation tool, and “dusk” a silicone anal plug perfect for beginners.

Pros:

  • INTENSE VIBRATION (4 vibration settings)
  • Versatile
  • Silicone attachments  (Yey body safe!)
  • Hard plastic body (Non porous)
  • Rechargeable
  • One year warranty
  • Canadian 🙂 Yey!

Cons:

  • Silicone lube shouldn’t be used with silicone anal tool (or any silicone toy)

About coconut oil

Articles from Good Clean Love:

4 Reasons not to use coconut oil as lube

Reconsidering Coconut oil as lube

Dear Good Clean Love, Thank you.

Before reading this article I was unsure as to why people shouldn’t use coconut oil for lube. As a concerned consumer who cares  about what goes into and onto my body, at first glance, coconut oil seemed great. Despite the fact that I couldn’t use it with condoms. Reading your first article started the conversation with my customers to find out if coconut oil was working for them.

As read, coconut oil doesn’t just kill bad bacteria, so one of the questions I ask my customers who use coconut oil is: Are you getting infections? If so, it may be because the coconut oil is killing the good bacteria and not leaving them there to fight for your vagina happiness.

The second question is: Are you using condoms? If so, it is recommended that you don’t use coconut oil as lube, as it isn’t condom compatible (this includes polyurethane condoms)

So, Good Clean Love. Thank you for saying what no one else felt bold enough to say. Basically, if it works for you, keep using it, but if you notice you’re having problems related to it concider switching to an organic and natural lube; such as Good Clean Love.

Sliquid Oceanics Infusion Botanique Lubricant

image

Sliquid lived up to all my expectations and more.

I used this for solo play, as I do find lubricant makes solo time much more pleasurable.

For solo use, it didn’t dry out on me, using less than a dime sized amount worked for an hour or so of use.

Sliquid is amazing for its natural qualities. There are no cancer causing chemicals or synthetics. It is very body friendly. I have suggested it for many women, because I have been able to check out the slippery-ness and what it feels like when dry, so I fully trusted it. So I figured it was time to put it to the test for myself.

Pros:

  • Organic 🍂
  • Natural ingredients 🌾
  • Stayed slippery for as long as I needed it without using much
  • Safe for all toys
  • Safe for condoms
  • Vegan 🌱
  • Great PH for fertility (6.7)

Cons:

  • Due to water based nature, will dry out faster than silicone lube; thus making it less optimal for anal.

I love this lube, it is my favourite. When it dries it moisturizes the skin, I have tried this with all water based Sliquid products, there is no stickyness at any point and dries into skin leaving it feel like it was never there. The best part of this lube is that it is so natural I actually feel good about using it.

Thank you Sliquid for caring about my body.

Never stop learning,

Toy Review: Vilain Audre

This was given to me free of charge by Blush Novelties for an honest non-bias review.

Please Contact @Whimsyxxxfairie if seen.

Different Uses:

  • Clitorally – The Vilain Audre has strong vibration throughout, but it is concentrated into the end of the toy, allowing it to make a great strong clitoral stimulator. Seeing as most women can’t have an orgasm without clitoral stimulation, this is a great option. Using this to stimulate the clitorous prior to penetration, helps swell the G-spot which makes it much easier to find.
  • Internal/G-spot: This toy is soft yet sturdy enough to do an amazing job hitting the G-Spot. The shape is a classic G-spot design which is a favourite for many explorers. With three modes of strong vibration, this toy makes G-spot play fun and satisfying.

Rating: 5/5

The Vilain Audre rises above the rest. It has superior vibration that shocked me at first touch. The low speed beats the high speed of many of my favourite toys. It features a five year warranty and no need for batteries, the Vilain Audre by Blush Novelties is an amazing toy, and a competitor with many premium brands.

Toy Review & Guide: Revive Fabulous Rabbit

This toy was given to me free of charge from Blush novelties for an honest non-bias review.

Versatile, build-your-own-adventure…

Revive Fabulous Rabbit

It’s adorable! And partially discreet.

image

Pros and Cons:

Pros:

  • Silicone
  • Rechargable
  • Waterproof
  • Dual Motor
  • Versatile
  • Great Vibration
  • 30 Day Warranty
  • Easy to use
  • 10 Vibration Settings (3 intensitys, 7 pulsation and escalation settings)

Cons:

  • Vibration stronger on outside of ears
  • Too large for full insertion for some people

This toy has one button, it turns it on, changes the vibration, and when pressed and held turns it off, it has very easy operation. I was first interested in this toy because I recognized how versatile it could be. This is  a great toy for anyone at any stage of their sexual exploration. It can be used as simple or as exploratively as you wish. It has a great vibration to it. If you use it lightly it has a tickly vibration but when placed solidly it has a deep vibration.

The multitude of uses for this toy are:

  • Clitoral
  • Internal
  • Internal and clitoral
  • Internal and anal
  • Anal

Clitoral Stimulation:

Clitorally it can be used in many ways.

  1. Dual Stimulation: The dual motors stimulate the clit fully, firstly its 3 strengths of vibration allow for straight uninterrupted stimulation. Then the next 7 pulsations really do stimulate similar to the way oral sex stimulates. Especially when you place each of the ears on each side of the clit.
  2. Grazing Stimulation: Using the tips of the bunny ears to stimulate the clit provides a strong tickly vibration. It can also be used on other parts of the body as a part of foreplay.
  3. Direct Stimulation: The outer parts of the ears have the strongest vibration, if you just want direct, strong, uninterrupted vibration, similar to that of a bullet, placing it on its side with one ear on top of the other, and using one ear to stimulate makes this easy.

Internal Use:

  1. Going all in: If your feeling adventurous, placing both ears internally, with one resting on the g-spot (belly button side of kitty) and the other laying beneath it, will allow for it to push against the walls and g-spot bringing optimal vibration throughout.
  2. The rabbit: With the power button facing the front of the body, place one ear on the clitoris and the other internally. The best part about this method with this toy is the shape makes it so it hits the g-spot internally. As you move the ear on the clitoris it moves internally as well.
  3. Adventuring south: Not for the more modest or traditional, this method allows for anal stimulation. Place one ear internally and the other on the anal entrance or into the anus. You may have to sacrifice internal vaginal stimulation if you want deeper anal penetration.

Anal:

  • Well this is straight forward, literally. Slowly ease in one or both ears, but don’t do more than you can handle.

This toy does have a 30 day warranty, so if anything happens, you don’t have to worry.

It’s got a great price and is an amazingly fun toy. Check it out here.

Play on,
~Whimsy <3
